RIE® Foundations: Theory & Observation™


ITANA board member, Nellie Hodda, will be supporting RIE Associate, Sharon Smith, in this Foundations course taking place this September in Crows Nest.

This 10 day in-person course is open to anyone (parents, professionals, and others) who is looking to deepen and develop their understanding of infant and toddler care and development.

The format of the course includes lectures, discussions, videos and observation. Written assessments and reading are also required for successful completion of the course. Information about required texts will be shared upon registration.

The course provides an overview of Magda Gerber’s Educaring® Approach and covers the following topics and more:

  • natural motor development

  • social and emotional development

  • care routines

  • sensitive observation

  • curriculum planning and setting up environments

  • play

  • issues in parenting

KEY INFORMATION

  • This course runs 9am-5pm every day Friday 2nd - Sunday 11th September inclusive

  • It is an in-person course with limited places

  • The course cost is NZ$2655
